What’s the difference between probability thinking and possibility thinking?

In the natural, people often think that something negative or scary is probably going to happen…

But as believers in Christ, we have possibility thinking, where we always have hope & faith!

Here’s what Joel Osteen says about probability thinking and possibility thinking:

Are you facing something today that seems impossible? With man it may be, but with God, ALL things are possible! If you seem to be in an impossible situation, get with God! Sometimes it’s so easy to focus on our problems and try to solve them in our own strength. But remember, the battle belongs to the Lord. He has a plan for your victory. He has a plan to give you a way out. He is making the things that seem impossible, possible. You can trust Him today. The Bible says that He has plans for your good, not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Start believing and declaring, “I am with God, and with God, all things are possible!” Are your bills piling up? With God, all things are possible. Do your relationships need healing? With God, all things are possible. Is there sickness in your body? With God, all things are possible!

From A Manger, to a Cross, to an Empty Tomb…

For unto you a Savior Is Born! Luke 2:21

This Christmas wreath represents the unending, divine circle of love that God the Father shows us through the birth, death and resurrection of His beloved Son, Jesus. When we celebrate the birth of Jesus this Christmas season, may we also give thanks for His sacrifice on the cross and His glorious resurrection.

Henry, Patti and the Scripture Pictures Team wish everyone a blessed Christmas day! May we celebrate the “reason for the season” which is Christ’s birthday!

Scrambling to find Christian gifts for Christmas?

Is the stress of Christmas shopping taking the joy out of the “reason for the season”?

While we are all rushing around preparing for the holidays, let’s stop for a moment and consider what the daily devotional, Jesus Calling says:

“Everyday I manifest My grace in countless places and situations…. As you grow closer to Me, I open your eyes even more of My Presence all around you. Things that most people hardly notice, like shifting shades of sunlight, fill you with heart-bursting Joy. You have eyes that see and ears that hear, so proclaim My abiding Presence in the world.”

(Dec. 28th devotion)

See Psalm 46: 1-3  and 89:15

Henry, Patti and the Scripture Pictures Team pray that all of us remain mindful of the presence of God in every step that we take.

God is as close as our next heartbeat. His mercies are new and fresh every morning.

Look for Him this Christmas season.

Lamentation 3:22-23:

“The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Thy compassion never fails. Great is thy faithfulness. Morning by morning His mercies I see.”

This Scripture Pictures photo was taken by Henry at a small, local park in Maui, Hawaii. It is a gentle reminder of God’s promise of peace after the storms in all our lives. He gives us new mercies every morning!

On Sunday, Dec. 13, 2015, Pastor Justin Floyd, the Youth Pastor at the First Christian Church of North Hollywood (FCCNH), preached his last sermon. He accepted a calling to a church in Georgia and will be moving this week, along with his dear wife, Catie.

Pastor Justin is truly loved by everyone at the First Christian Church of North Hollywood (FCCNH). His warmth, wisdom, dedication and sense of humor makes him a one-of-a-kind pastor. We have been blessed to have him serve as pastor at our church!

Here is a collage of photos of Pastor Justin from the First Christian Church of North Hollywood (FCCNH) that shows his wonderful personality! The beautiful woman in the photo is his precious wife, who serves alongside him.

Please say a prayer for Pastor Justin as he relocates from the First Christian Church of North Hollywood (FCCNH) to his new church home in Georgia!

Struggling with forgiveness?

Here is what Joel Osteen writes about forgiveness in his daily devotional on September 3rd:

Forgive Others

“As followers of Christ, our character should mirror His character. We should be helpful, kind and tender, understanding and loving to one another. Most of all, we should be extending forgiveness in the same way that Christ extends forgiveness toward us. In other words, we need to forgive unconditionally. But many times, people say they won’t forgive until the other person says they are sorry. Or, they won’t forgive because they think somehow they are getting that person back.                                                                                But the only person who is hurt by your unforgiveness is you! When you hold unforgiveness, it blocks God’s forgiveness and keeps you locked up in the hurt and pain.”

For a larger view, click on the Scripture Pictures photo of Isaiah 61:7 called: “Double the Honor!”

Instead of your shame, you will have double the honor…and everlasting joy will be yours.

This Scripture Pictures photo was taken by Henry under an old, abandoned bridge “that leads to nowhere” close to an isolated strip of beach near Ventura, California. The rushing ocean surf reminds Henry of God’s power to heal us of our shame and open our hearts to forgiveness of others.

The holidays can be very difficult times for people in recovery from drugs, alcohol, and other addictions. Scripture Pictures want to acknowledge our brothers-and- sisters-in-Christ who are in recovery this holiday season.

Why are holidays so challenging for people in recovery? Here are 4 reasons why:

1. Sad or traumatizing memories from the past, including childhood issues of abuse, neglect and abandonment.

2. Current struggles, hardships and conflicts.

3. Fears, anxieties, and worries about the future.

4. Holiday parties with alcohol and drug use, and other temptations that can trigger relapse.

Scripture Pictures has a section of Scripture Pictures photos for our brothers-and- sisters-in-Christ who are in recovery. Of course, any of our Scripture Pictures photos make wonderful Christian Recovery gifts.

Patti’s dad was an alcoholic. He had PTSD from World War II as a medic on an aircraft carrier. He started drinking while he was in the Navy. So, recovery is very near to Patti’s heart and soul.

Afraid of what you hear on the news?

Take a look at what Sarah Young wrote in her devotional book, Jesus Calling, for December 28th. She writes “love letters” from Jesus to us:

I am Your refuge and Strength, an ever-present Help in trouble. Therefore you don’t need to be afraid of anything – not even cataclysmic circumstances. The media are increasingly devoted to fear-inducing subject matter: terrorism, serial killings, environmental catastrophes. If you focus on such dangers and forget that I am your Refuge in all circumstances, you will become increasingly fearful. Everyday I manifest My grace in countless places and situations, but the media take no notice. I shower not only blessings but also outright miracles on your planet.”

Scripture Pictures has a Scripture photo of Psalm 46:1-2. It’s called:

God is Our Refuge!

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear.

This Scripture Pictures photo was taken by Henry in Maui, Hawaii at a beach near Hana. The sea cave is assessable only by crawling through a narrow opening in the rocks. Every few seconds, the ocean surf rushes in and floods the tiny cave with water. The sea cave symbolizes that God IS our refuge, no matter the circumstances.

Scriptures-Pictures-2Feeling unworthy of God’s Love?

Take a look at what Sarah Young wrote in her devotional book, Jesus Calling, for December 26th. (She writes “love letters” from Jesus to us).

“When you are disastisfied with your behavior, you tend to feel unworthy of My Love. You may unconsciously punish yourself by withdrawing from Me and attributing the distance between us to My displeasure. Instead of returning to Me and receiving My Love, you attempt to earn My approval by trying harder. All the while I am aching to hold you in My everlasting arms, to enfold you in My Love. When you are feeling unworthy or unloved, come to Me. Then ask for receptivity to My Unfailing Love.”

For more on God’s love for us, please click on the Scripture Pictures photo of 2 Corinthians 4:7-18 called:

Do Not Lose Heart!

Even when I am…hardpressed, perplexed, persecuted, struck down, I am not destroyed. For I fix my eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, for what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. Therefore, I do not lose heart. My spirit is being renewed day by day.”

This Scripture Pictures photo was taken by Henry at sunset along the Pacific Ocean near Dana Point, California. Henry says this shot of the lone person standing on the rocks, facing ominous surroundings, is a reminder of the times when we need to wait upon the Lord to reveal His hope – as represented in the light coming through the clouds.
