Happy Memorial Day: Scripture Pictures

Here are 5 reasons to thank a military service member – either a veteran or a soldier in active service – on this Memorial Day:

1. Freedom to worship God openly in America.

2. Freedom of speech.

3. Protection of the rights of women to get an education.

4. Protection for children from brutal child labor and sex trafficking.

5.  The right to vote.

Millions of people from all over the world do not experience any of these freedoms.

On this Memorial Day, may we all get on our knees and thank God for the blessings that have been bestowed upon our country.

And may we remain vigilant, as Satan engages in spiritual warfare to try to take away these freedoms that our military service men and women have fought so very hard to obtain and sustain.

In Christ’s Love,

Patti, Henry and the Scripture Pictures Team

This Memorial Day weekend, Scripture.Pictures wants to honor Operation Gratitude – an organization that:

“annually sends 150,000+ care packages filled with snacks, entertainment, hygiene and hand-made items, plus personal letters of appreciation, to New Recruits, Veterans, First Responders, Wounded Warriors, Care Givers and to individually named U.S. Service Members deployed overseas. Our mission is to lift the spirits and meet the evolving needs of our Active Duty and Veteran communities, and provide volunteer opportunities for all Americans to express their appreciation to members of our Military.”

Patti of the Scripture Pictures Team has been a “letter writer” for Operation Gratitude, that is, she has written letters of appreciation and support to service members that were included in the Operation Gratitude care packages that are sent overseas.

Henry, Patti and the Scripture Pictures Team ask you to pray about supporting Operation Gratitude through financial support and volunteering your time.

Here is a Memorial Day poem to encourage and inspire.

Remember that Armed Forces Day is today, SaturdayMay 16, 2015.

Honor Our Military

Let’s honor our military,
The men and women who serve,
Whose dedication to our country
Does not falter, halt or swerve.

Let’s respect them for their courage;
They’re ready to do what’s right
To keep America safe,
So we can sleep better at night.

Let’s support and defend our soldiers,
Whose hardships are brutal and cruel,
Whose discipline we can’t imagine,
Who follow each order and rule.

Here’s to those who choose to be warriors
And their helpers good and true;
They’re fighting for American values;
They’re fighting for me and you.

Here’s a Memorial Day Poem that is sure to uplift and inspire:

The Best on Earth:

A Veteran’s Day Tribute

If someone has done military service,
They earn the title “veteran,” and more;
They earn our deep respect and admiration;
That they are special no one can ignore.

They sacrificed the comforts we enjoy;
The list is long of all the things they gave.
Our veterans are extraordinary people;
They’re loyal, dedicated, true and brave.

When terror and invasion were real threats,
They showed us they could handle any storm.
We owe our freedoms and our very lives
To our veterans, who served in uniform.

Our veterans should be celebrities;
They’re exceptional; no other group compares.
We’re grateful for the many things they’ve done;
They’re always in our hearts and in our prayers.

We owe our veterans support and friendship;
Let no one ever question what they’re worth.
These men and women served us and our country,
Our veterans–the very best on earth.

He Is Risen! Scripture Pictures

Scripture-Pictures-97He Is Risen! Scripture Pictures

The Scripture Pictures Team wish you a blessed Easter!

On this resurrection Easter Sunday, may we meditate upon Isaiah 53:4-5:

Surely He took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows…He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by his wounds we are healed.

One of the elders at the First Christian Church of North Hollywood, Brett Elliot, wrote a poignant Easter meditation:

“…I’ve come to view the cross another way. Just as a cross is the physical intersection of horizontal and vertical beams, it can also be seen as the intersection of Spirit and humanity. Marcus Borg writes, ‘If Jesus is the once and for all sacrifice for sin…it means that God has already taken care of whatever it is that we think separates us from God.'”

“In this light, Jesus’ terrible and wonderful sacrifice represents the coming together of God and man. The cross binds us to our Source. The cross tells us there are no longer any barriers between God and us. We may feel we are surrounded by sin and far from God, but the cross reminds us that God conceived, created, and accepts us – each of us – exactly as we are.

In His Love,

Henry, Patti and the Scripture Pictures Team

He is Risen!

He is not here. He has risen, just as He said.

Henry says, “This photo of an old rugged cross on a hill captures the death and miraculous resurrection of Christ Jesus. This image captures the essence of the Easter miracle in which Jesus ascended to Heaven and conquered death.”

Rise Up Today: Scripture Pictures

The Scripture Pictures Team want to share today’s Daily Devotion, Today’s Word, from Joel Osteen called:

Rise Up Today!

Today’s Scripture: “I raised you up for this very purpose, that I might display my power in you and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.” (Romans 9:17, NIV)

Easter is a wonderful time to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ — that glorious event that changed history over 2,000 years ago. But, did you know that God is still in the resurrection business today? When you receive Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior, you become born again. Your spirit is resurrected so you that you can have a personal relationship with God.

Not only does He want to resurrect your spirit, He wants to resurrect your dreams, your hopes, your relationships and every area of your life! Today, call on Him and allow Him to display His resurrection power through you!

We love you and rejoice with you as we celebrate the resurrected life of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!”

In His Love,

Patti, Henry and the Scripture Pictures Team

For a larger view, please click on the Scripture Pictures photo of Matthew 5:10:

“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake,
 for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”

This Scripture Pictures photo was taken by Henry in a very remote area of Utah. Henry says, “My wife and I trekked for miles until we suddenly discovered this incredible sight. The cloud reminds me of 1Thessalonians 4:17 that says – ‘…we who are still alive and are left will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever’.” This shot is a powerful testimony of God’s promise for the end times.
